UNIVERSAL CITY, CA (June 24, 2008) – The highly-anticipated, outrageous comedy Postal arrives on DVD and Blu-ray™ High-Def on August 26 from Vivendi Entertainment. One of this year’s most talked about theatrical releases from controversial Director Uwe Boll, Postal is his first English-language comedy delivering a sharp and funny look at contemporary life in America . All versions of the Postal DVD release will include Postal 2: Share the Pain, the PC videogame that inspired the film. The standard rated and unrated versions are both priced at $26.99 SRP. The unrated Blu-ray™ High-Def version will be available for $34.99.
Postal stars Zack Ward (Transformers, A Christmas Story), Dave Foley (“News Radio”), J.K. Simmons (the Spiderman trilogy), Jackie Tohn (“On the Lot”), Larry Thomas (AKA the Soup Nazi from “Seinfeld”),Verne Troyer (The Love Guru, Austin Powers) and Erick Avari (Mr. Deeds). Additional DVD bonus features include a behind-the-scenes featurette, director commentary, Verne Troyer dressed as Indian Jones challenging Harrison Ford, and more.
Uwe Boll is considered one of the most controversial director/producers working in film today. His adaptations of popular videogames, including BloodRayne, starring Ben Kingsley and Alone in the Dark, starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid, have attracted worldwide attention. After BloodRayne was trashed on the internet by self-proclaimed “Boll Bashers,” Uwe challenged his critics to a boxing match. Four takers accepted and the match took place in Vancouver during the filming of Postal, the footage of which is included in the special featurette “Raging Boll.” Three of the critics he boxed with agreed to play small parts in Postal.
The Postal DVD and videogame release will be supported by an extensive marketing and promotions campaign including media and publicity, as well as an online campaign. The online campaign will target key sites reaching the important youth demographic.
